Abstract


This article discusses the issue of oral hygiene management for the special need dental patients. The population with disabilities increases owing to the increase of aging population, traffic accidents and industrial disasters. But, the disabled have less knowledge about oral hygiene than ordinary people, or even when they are aware of such a dental problem, they don¡¯t properly manage oral hygiene due to their disabilities or difficulty in terms of management, the frequency of dental diseases occurring is quite high. Accordingly, before dental diseases occur to the disabled, it is necessary to recognize the importance of oral hygiene management and prevention through training more than anything else. Furthermore, it is recommended to perform preventive methods and oral hygiene training fit for each type of disorder for both patients and their guardians.
